This was the first self- portrait that I did in the
miniature format, although I had previously often been my own best subject
and model in several oil paintings. It is in this painting that I learn to
bring in and combine elements of my works in oil and incorporate them in the
miniature format. The painting has a very visible ‘Kahloesque’ feel to it, a
painter I admire for her tremendous ability to capture the emotive element on
canvas. |
