This painting, titled ‘Prickly
Thoughts’, symbolizes the anxieties and inner demons that sometimes overwhelm
us and cloud our judgement in assessing the actual reality of situations. In
the painting, I view myself in a similar predicament, the thorny branches
coming out of my head symbolizing those negative thoughts and emotions. The
frame of demons and barbs surrounding me is a magnification of these negative
emotions. Despite the surrounding aura of anxiety and fear, I protect myself
by wearing the garb of a Sufi Dervish, along with rosary beads as my weapon
of choice. |
