I have always had an inclination for detail in my paintings, even before I went to Art College and took up miniature painting as my major. After spending the first two of my four year bachelors program at the National College of Arts in Lahore, Pakistan, learning sculpture, painting, printmaking and miniature painting, I knew very well what my specialization was going to be. Miniature painting for me was definitely the most wonderful medium in which to express myself.
While the current scale of my work is much larger than the traditional miniature format, I still employ the same elements of detail and introspection required in smaller sized miniature paintings.
I find the miniature medium to be a perfect canvas for evoking thoughtful storytelling, due to its historically illustrative nature in illuminated manuscripts.
